P.S. I Like You by Kasie West
My rating: 4 of 5 stars
I picked up and read P.S. I Like You by Kasie West because I was in the mood for a quick, light, cute and purely fun book. This was my first time reading a book by Kasie West, but I have heard many times that her books are cute and very good. I decided to try reading one of her books for myself. When in the mood for a book that is light and purely a fun read, what’s better then a contemporary romance novel?
I loved the message in the book, especially for tween or teen girls reading the book. Kasie West has the possible romance develop through letter writing during two different high school Chemistry classes to unknown recipients. This means that they don’t know the popularity of the other person, what they look like or have any preconceived notions of the other person. They learn about each other through secret admirer type letters. What a person looks like or how popular they are or are not shouldn’t matter. Who they are on the inside is what should truly matter. As adults, we know this, but often tweens or teens can get caught up in superficial things. West creates a beautiful story that will present a different thought process to its readers. Is everything and everyone what they appear on the surface? Is their more to their stories?
However, because this is a YA novel, the writing is more simple then a lot of adult contemporary novels, making it a very quick read. It is a cute, well written book, but it is definitely for those moments when the reader just wants a sweet story to read. I definitely enjoyed reading P.S. I Like You and it was exactly what I was in the mood to read. I will be recommending this book to my tween daughter to read because I think she will enjoy it and I love the messages the book sends out to young ladies. When the mood strikes again for an enjoyable, sweet book, I would definitely pick up another novel by Kasie West.
