Hi, I’m Becky. Welcome to In My Reading Nook where I blog about books and all things reading related. I thought I would share with you a little more about myself here. I married my high school sweetheart and we have two kids, a teenage son and an almost tween daughter. My daughter shares my love of reading and she aspires to be an author someday. We also have a dog, Logan, who is like a third child to me. 😉 Although, I’ve always been an animal lover, I never thought I’d be the type of dog owner to think of my dog as another child. That is, until I met Logan! We adopted him a few years ago from a local animal shelter.  He’s smart and obedient, but he’s also playful or cuddly. My family and I sometimes jokingly call him “tiny.” Although Logan is about 70 lbs, he will often squeeze himself into your lap, nuzzle his head into your neck and fall fast asleep. These moments make him the perfect reading buddy. What’s better then a dog, a good book and a cup of tea (or coffee) right?!?!

Besides reading, I also enjoy crochet. I learned to crochet through YouTube and I’ve loved it ever since. Crochet can be very relaxing and it’s so rewarding when you finish a project to know you made it yourself. Crocheted blankets are also great to cuddle up under with a great book. So, I guess for me, most things come back to reading! LOL

So, let me tell you a little about my reading journey. I was taught the importance of reading at a very young age. I remember many trips to the local library. My favorite days in elementary school were library days and school book fairs. When I was young I enjoyed The Berenstein Bears series, The Pokey Little Puppy, The Little Engine that Could, Sesame Street books, The Little Miss series as well as many others. Then, I moved on to the Ramona Quimby series, Judy Blume books, The Secret Garden, The Babysitter’s Club series and Sweet Valley High. Yes, I was a child of the 80’s! In middle school, I enjoyed the Anne of Green Gables series. High school, for me, became more about required school reading and meeting my future husband. My personal reading diminished drastically. I would buy a book, from time to time, but after reading a few chapters, I’d put it aside. As an adult, I found Kristin Hannah. I don’t remember how, but somehow I heard about her book Winter Garden. I read that book cover to cover and loved it! I’ve been reading ever since!  Kristin Hannah has became one of my favorite authors and I will read anything she writes.

I am willing to try any books. However, my favorite genres are historical fiction, women’s literature (I’m not a huge fan of the chick-lit title that this genre sometimes gets), fantasy, thriller and YA.
