Musing Mondays is hosted by Jen at her blog, Books and a Beat.
Musing Mondays is a weekly meme that asks you to choose one of the following prompts to answer:
- I’m currently reading…
- Up next I think I’ll read…
- I bought the following book(s) in the past week…
- I’m super excited to tell you about (book/author/bookish-news)…
- I’m really upset by (book/author/bookish-news)…
- I can’t wait to get a copy of…
- I wish I could read ___, but…
- I blogged about ____ this past week…
THIS WEEK’S RANDOM QUESTION: Which book do you wish you’d written, yourself?
I think I’ll start with this week’s random question since it’s a great one!
Which book do you wish you’d written, yourself?
The first book that quickly came to my mind when I read this question was…
The Night Circus by Erin Morgenstern is such a beautifully written and crafted story. It’s one of my favorite books that I would really like to re-read soon. I’m not typically a re-reader, although I’d like to re-read more, but this is the next book I would like to re-read. The language in this book is just so beautiful and has just the right amount of detail to paint beautiful images in the minds of its readers. If you haven’t already read The Night Circus, I highly recommend it. It took me a long time to pick it up because I had no idea that I would love it as much as I did. It’s truly worth the read!
I’m currently reading…
I’m almost finished reading, The Life We Bury by Allen Eskens. I will probably finish the book today and have a review up shortly. For now, I’ll say I’m loving this book and having trouble putting it down. I just want to know how it all ends…
Up next I think I’ll read…
I am participating in a readalong of A Tree Grows in Brooklyn by Betty Smith in September, so that will probably be the next book I read. The readalong is being hosted by Katie from Life Between Words and there’s a Goodreads Group if you are interested in this readalong.
If I finish The Life We Bury today, as planned, I will spend the last few days of August reading some more of Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix by J.K. Rowling.
So, those are my musings for this Monday. I hope you have a great Monday and an even greater week ahead! 🙂
Which book do you wish you’d written, yourself? Let me know in the comments. There are so many great books out there and I’m so glad we have so many wonderful authors to choose from.
I’m just about to start re-reading Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix! My favourite YA / scary books to read are The Forbidden Game trilogy books by L.J. Smith. I read them so many times and I really wish I’d had the ideas for it myself and written them myself 😦
However, I’m glad they exist for me to read and read again! 🙂

Believe it or not, I’m one of the few who still hasn’t finished the HP series for the first time. I’m hoping to have that fixed by the end of this year. I agree! I’m glad to have the books to read that are written by so many great authors.

I couldn’t think of a book I wish I’d written….there are so many books out there, and it would have to be something really amazing, right?
But here’s what I’m musing about today: MY MUSING MONDAYS POST
I LOVE your blog header….I could sink onto that window seat, with those books surrounding it, and enjoy reading…and the view.

Yes, it would definitely have to be an amazing book.
Enjoyed reading your Monday Musing as well. 🙂
Thanks. I could sink into that window seat too…but for now my comfy chair in the corner of my livingroom will have to do. Maybe someday I’ll have a library with a window seat like that. A girl can dream, right?!?!

I’ve heard a lot of good things about The Night Circus, and it does sound interesting. I just haven’t gotten around to it yet.

You should give it a go. If you decide to read it, I hope you enjoy it as much as I did! It took me awhile to pick it up because honestly I wasn’t sure if I would enjoy a book about a circus, but it’s really so much more then that. The writing is so beautiful!

I couldn’t get into the Night Circus and I tried, because I really wanted to like it but I just didn’t and that disappointed me so much!
I chose a Harry Potter book too but I went with Cursed Child: http://twobirds1blog.blogspot.ca/2016/08/musing-mondays-reading-for.html

I’m sorry to hear that you didn’t like The Night Circus. Not every book is for everyone and that’s okay. 🙂
